Insurance Rates Going up Again Everyone!
Well once again I received my new policy and it's up another 14.5%. Last year it was up 25%. They are thinking the Hurricanes again. Safeco is trying to get inline with other companies like Progressive and others by slowly raising their rates I'm told. I use an RV Ins. specialist and again Safeco is much less in my state and zip than the others but still too much I believe with no surcharges. I may have to do some value engineering to get this at an acceptable amount. Dollar cost averaging is what I used last yr. to ease the pane, looks like I'll have to do that again this yr. while the motorhome is another yr. older.

National General wants to increase mine over 50% this 6 month renewal date. I'm looking. Asked FMCA for a quote and supposed to get it this week. NG agent told me it will increase again in another 6 months but I could save a little by doing a 12 month renewal which is what I had asked to do before but told they didn't offer it.

Are you new to General? The savings isn’t that much for 12 months but I take it anyway. If you sell they will prorate a refund. This Ins is getting out of hand in my opinion. Rates keep going up and up and investments keep going down and down.

My National General increased by about 15% so I got a quote from FMCA. They could have saved me about 7% off N.G. but I would have lost my purchase price coverage.
Since I don’t use the RV year round, I suspend collision coverage when in storage and can easily be under a $1000 per year.
I keep the NG 12 month coverage

Not everyone gets an increase. My NG policy went down 13% from the prior year. Of course, our risks here do not include what the hurricane type. Could be the increases are locality, based on recent loss claims.

Maybe hedging their bet after recent loss experience. Call and ask, or ask the state regulators. I say this because our pet insurance went up a large percentage a few years ago. I asked why. The reason was CA had not allowed an increase for several years, so they next round of increases was large to cover actual expenses. Insurance is generally pooled risk, some pools have more payouts than others...

I don't think it truly matters on the grand scheme. It's all a rip off. They are trying to recoup what they lost in payouts from disasters while the CEOs continue to get their annual 6 figure bonuses. I live in a low threat area and every time I turn around, my auto, home owner's, RV policies continue to go up. I have not filed an insurance claim in over 25 years and continue to get it up the gazoo.

Interesting first paragraph. You pulled that from Mo.gov site?

I've been bouncing back and forth from Nat Gen to Progressive. This year dropped compressive and collusion on MH and Car. Saved 2 grand. Have not used either coverage for many years. Car is 12 years old. MH never had a claim. I've set up a fund on my own just in case.

Sort of a related question - has your deductible changed as well?
I had a shock when I insured my current MH - the deductible went from $2000 to $5000 per event! The agent said it was based on 3% of the purchase value of the MH (though I paid more than $150K) and this was now standard. My premium is currently $2600 CAD.
I did save $200 in deductible (now $4800) by changing companies, but the yearly premium is still $2600. I do save around $100 per month right now as it is parked for the winter.
And just another note, they have not been able to provide me with a printed copy of my MH policy since July. Seems their printing software can't get over the amount of the deductible and aborts the job!. They send me a temporary slip every 30 days for now .

Wow, we have progressive ins. On our class C and it's only $385 per year full coverage $500 deductible. I think you guys must have class A's or buses to have that high of ins.

I have a 2005 Class A worth 35-40k my rate just went up to $997 and others were much higher next closest was $400 more. I have the value at $40k on the policy. Two yrs ago it was at $697 then went up to $870 not its $997 all the same company and I know that’s less than many others but for a 2005 model seems high and especially if it was with Progressive I think they were at $1400. I’ll be lowering the value again and maybe the deductible too. I had one windshield claim a yr. back no deductible on that with Safeco.
