If I had a good excuse to replace my inverter with something better, I'd probably take it. I've been contemplating a Victron MultiPlus or MultiPlus II since they have the ability to "boost" shore power with their "Power Assist" feature. (Lets you tell the inverter to limit draw from shore/generator to, say 12A, and then automatically boosts that with the inverter/battery bank should it need more -- like when running the microwave, A/C, etc.)

Lots of good info. For peace of mind, I decided to replace the unit, as it was already over 10 years old. Went with a Magnum MS2012 pure sine wave unit. I plan on boondocking more this year than in the past, and with our 120V compressor converted fridge, a new unit seemed to be the most reliable option. Thanks everyone

Considering $600-$1200, I would want to remove, open and inspect first? Maybe a $5 part or bad solder joint evident? As example, I have read that many CONVERTERS during overload simply melts certain solder joints, and resolder restores to service?

Good move. JFYI - I replaced Heart Interface Freedom 20D (predecessor of Xantrex Freedom) with a MS2812 back in 2016. I used the existing data cable for the remote, plug n play.
