It sounds like a foolish question but having a 31 ft gas coach with a toad makes us too big to use some gas stations. I have never pulled into a Flying J or other truck stop, but I know they should have more room to maneuver the coach with the toad, if they sell gasoline.

Most all truck stops have gas, it is not in the big truck fueling lane's, gas is in the station's out front, like you said, where the auto's fuel.

Most Flying J's have RV lanes. I try to use those as often as I can when traveling and pulling the toad.

I would ask why a truck stop? In the 10 years we have owned our 37', we have used a truck stop on rare occasions, I don't like the traffic. Plan ahead and you won't have any problems.

It does take some getting used to. What we do is I drive and the DW scouts the area as we approach. Usually the outside lanes ar the best if they don't have a specific RV area. As stated most TS's don't cater to the RV.

We tend to shy away from the big TS's. About two years ago we were pulling a 28 FT. TT and stopped at a Pilot TS for fuel . To get back out we left the gas fill area entered the semi area very carefully and slowly. A dump truck came barreling through and broad sides the TT. It was completely totaled and had less than 1,200 miles on it. We loaded everything into the pickup and left the TT. All was settled within 30 days. It was his fault and he admitted it to the police.

I'm just trying to avoid getting in to a situation where I have to unhitch the toad to get out.

Truck stops with RV lanes are the best to get in and out of without backing up. Any place that has large trucks will be cognisant of the need to avoid reversing. All of the Flying J we have been in have been easy enough to move around in without backing up.

Costco is my number one choice and then truck stops, RV lanes if they have them.

I know I have been to ONE truck stop,,, Possibly 2,, I have driven coast to coast, More than once, stopped in dozens and dozens of truck stops and only one or two.. The one I am sure of normally offers Gasoline but had a problem and they gas side was all dug up being repaired. So today (several years later) I am sure they have completed the repairs and have the gas pumps working again.

That leaves a "Possible one", and I'm not sure of that.

There are very few truck stops not selling gasoline, and those are usually unmanned stations that only turn on by using a special card. Flying J-owned stations have RV lanes with gas and diesel pumps, and room to maneuver the longest rig; unless some idiot parks their car there. Now Pilot truck stops/travel centers are beginning to build RV lanes in new store locations.

We call the unmanned ones card locks. If you have the correct card you can fuel at them.

Places like flyingJ show their lack of knowledge by putting Rv island where you must turn 90 degrees across the front of station and fight with cars parked crazy. I find I can do better on the end island at sams or wally world or a large gas station. They usually had deisel for me in the last 7 rigs been a while since I had to look for gas for rv.

So you know, Flying J TS's are own'd by Pilot TS's now! That happened a couple of year's ago! Rail!

PS And yes to the OP's question, most all sell gas! 99%!

I interpret the OP's question as: can I fill my gas motor home at the truck islands?
The answer with very few exceptions is no. Most truck stops do not have gasoline at the truck islands. I have seen one truck stop that had gasoline at one of its truck lanes. That was an AMBest. And that lane was clearly marked with an overhead sign. Also of note is that some Flying J's don't have RV lanes.
