Is the step UP or DOWN?

For those of us who don't have automatic electric steps, or only have a mechanical step, the most common question in the RV community has got to be: "Is the step still out?"

Wouldn't it be nice to have a indicator light on the dash that warns when the step is extended?

I installed a proximity switch and indicator light on my dash to show if the step is still extended. This was a inexpensive mode that takes a little electrical skills.

Nicely done, would a switch like this work too ?

oh, but it's an inside switch that probably would fail outside...
