We stand corrected, thank you. The book on his life and endeavors is a very good read.

At that time, it was the only income and Dad had to get it back on the road hauling.

There was another motor commonly used in the trucks, Cummins, Cat, and Detroit Diesel. Detroits were Dad's least favorite as I recall.
There were some ruff years all around, trucking today is quite different, especially since deregulation in 1980. My first diesel was a 1957 B61 Mack, single axel. Twin sticks and no sleeper or AC back then ether. My dad always bought Ford gas jobs until his first Diamond T, which he overhauled in our back yard.....I still have some of his wrenches.

However, I was a keen student of English, and try my best to spell correctly and also use proper useage, punctuation, and such.

But I never take anyone to task for any of it.

Just sayin....

I'm from Philly and I love the Philadelphia Iggles. We pronounce wash as laundry LOL. And we shop at the Acamee (ACME). Amazing how we can turn two syllables into three.

Glad that is cleared up. Now can you work on advice (noun) and advise (verb) ? My pet complaints. Hate it when one asks for advise when he really wants advice.

Isn't that complaining about something you cannot fix? Pretty much like complaining about taxes or fuel prices, me thinks. Or Cummins/Cummings?

No , its not the same when it comes to household names like " Cummins". If you were a Kenworth guy how would you like it if people kept saying " Kenilworth ",? and they did say that a lot !, never mind there was no connection with the city in new Jersey.
