I bet after you spend money on your specialist he is going to tell you the jacks are working as they should. He will probbabley tell you the fluid is low. But I don't think it is low enough to be a problem.

HWH says either the engine should be running, or you should be on shore power when using their systems, as DC voltage is important for proper operation. Their FAQ page covers a wide area of topics and answers.

My HWH instructs engine off, ignition in Acc or on position.

Thanks to all for the responses. I took the MH to a local shop, familiar with the HWH system, where they topped the reservoir off and then cycled the jacks up and down. Everything worked the way it was suppose to with the exception of a raucous sound from the rear jacks when they fully extended. The tech said that he thought the shafts needed lubricant and, after wiping them down, they now work as smooth as silk! He then made a minor adjustment to the level sensor to make it comply with a carpenter's level placed on the coach floor. I'm a happy camper at a cost of one hour of tech time and a quart of hydraulic fluid!

On the '02 DSDP, which we owned for 13 years, I never cleaned the jacks, even after having them extended for 6 months at a time and they were still working fine. Even had the original straight springs on them.

Glad to hear you had such a great record, but periodically cleaning jack cylinders couldn't hurt, and is just good preventative maintenance. I've heard of folks that never get an oil change, and claim it's not necessary.

Cleaning Jacks

I have reason to believe that the previous owner seldom used the jacks - however the MH was used for winter camping, which exposed it to New England's heavily salted roads. In any event I'm happy that the jacks are working good. We leave Monday for a week at Acadia National Park.
