Kwikee Level Best 3000 Jacks - How to Service Leg Switch

Hi,

Looks like I have a defective Leg Switch on a Kwikee 3000 straight jack (the "Jacks Down" alarm won't shut off; and the reservoir is full).

Before I go under the coach to track down which switch is defective; are these switches easy to service? If so, any tips on removal, fix, reinstall?

I wish you all the luck in the world. Here's why. Over a year ago by jacks down alarm would not shut off. I have the Kwikee Level Best system also. I spent a week at the Winnebago factory and they could not fix it (go figure). When I asked them if they checked the pressure port on the reservoir to make sure there was 1500 psi, the reply was that they did not have a gauge. (Go figure again) I traveled for a day and finally I received communications from power gear and through emails I was able to stop the alarm so we could travel in peace. Pull the Level Best Control Panel and remove the 4 pin connector (it is a quick disconnect). When you stop you will have to plug it back in again to actuate the jacks.

Story continues. The dealer and my storage place are only a few miles apart. The service manager made several trips and tried, and tried and tried to find what was causing the alarm to stay on. All of the "Reed Switches" are in series. A final communications with Power Gear and they said, are you ready, "Just start replacing parts." I wish I was near their factory and I'd let them trouble shoot it.

In the meantime I purchased a single pole, single throw toggle switch, drilled a hole in the wood next to the Level Best Control Panel and interrupted the positive line to the control panel power. The only thing necessary besides mounting the switch is to fabricate a single piece of wire (I used 10 gauge) with push on spades. You will need to purchase a tool and a few connectors to make the job neat and easy. You'll see what you will need when you take the control panel down. You'll have push pins to remove from their phoneilc case.

Success! Wiggling each leg switch wire I found the alarm would shut off when wiggling the front driver's side wiring.

I crawled under the coach and found the leaf spring was pinching the wire (you have to remove the black plastic outer sheath to see the damage).

I've now cut out the damaged wire and re-routed them away from the suspension.
