Leaking Thetford Toilet in 2017 Forester

The plastic Thetford 2 piece toilet in our new 2017 Forester is leaking. It is not leaking at the base or in the fill valve. The base is tight to the floor but the bowl shifts slightly side to side on the base. The water in bowl leaks out at bowl/pedestal/seam area. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anyway to fix it without replacing the entire toilet? Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Joined in 2013 and this is first post??? Now that's what I call patience. I would not touch it. A 2017 would be under warranty. Let the dealer handle it. JMO

First post since Joining!

I haven't needed to post since I'm usually able to search the existing threads and find a solution to the current problem. IRV2 has literally saved our trip/lives several times in the 4 years since I joined! However, this time we've tried every suggestion I've found without success. We're trying to avoid warranty work since we need to use the unit within the next week or two and it's difficult to get repairs done in a timely manner in our area.

Sorry I can't help, but it sounds like the two halves never got tightened together right. Maybe look under where they fit together to see if you can find the screws that hold it together. Leaky toilets are no fun. Good luck

Probably need to pull the toilet and see how it is put together.

Is there a mobile rv repair service where your at or where your going?
At least you won’t have to pull the toilet yourself.

The toilet should have a metal band that holds a plastic clamp. This metal band and plastic clamp may be behind a plastic shroud, which is easily removed. The band and clamp holds the upper and lower pieces of the toilet together. Use a socket wrench to tighten the metal band ... make it real snug. If it still leaks, tighten a bit more.

Had the same problem last year. Pull the toilet and take it out where you can put it upside down. You will see the bolts that hold the top to the bottom section. Just tighten them up and reinstall the toilet. Shouldn’t take more than 30-40 minutes to do the job. I have not had any further problems since. I think it came from the factory incorrectly tightened.

X2. Sounds like the hose clamp that secures the top bowl to the toilet base is not tight enough.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Can't advise you on the problem, but isn't it still in warranty? Keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
