LED Lighting
Just spent part of the weekend rewiring the lighting fixtures in our RV. When the unit was manufactured they did not follow proper wiring protocol. When I went to upgrade to LED lighting the voltage was reversed biased on part of the lamps and the bulbs would not light. At the time of the build it didn't matter to an incandescent bulb, but it sure made my weekend fun. I was wondering just how common of a problem this has been for other members who upgraded to LED bulbs.

My 1999 Soutwind was like this. When I upgraded to LEDs, the lights in the slide were all reverse polarity. It wasn't a big deal with the 921 bulbs, but I had to re-wire for the bases for the 1141 bulbs.
In hindsight, I should have switched the wires that feed the slide rather than take the light fixtures apart

On our 2011 Journey about half the fixtures had to have the wires switched. Not a big job.

I check my polarity with a volt meter when I am wiring my LED bulbs in. Sure saves a lot of time later. Learned this the hard way.
Good Luck

When I switched my 5er to led's, if the bulb didn't light, just turned it 180 degrees and whet on to the next one....so they are polarity sensitive...

Maybe I'm the exception but I did 10 florescent fixtures and 14 halogen ones to LED and every one was correct!

On MEH (meh.com) today 7/18, are some LED (puc, under counter/closet) lights on sale. I've bought a lot of stuff from MEH and never disappointed.
