My unit is a 2007 Damon Challenger 376 on a Ford F-53. I have a situation with my levelers. When I went to retract them (waking her up for a hopefully new season), the unit would not retract. I've had this problem before, so I went to my solenoid to check for it's usual bi-yearly replacement. My solenoid was fine. It checked out fine with my meter. When I jumped the up contact, my pump kicked on fine. However, when I jumped the down side... all I got was a click. I checked and high amp voltage terminal and voltage is being delivered to through the contact. My solenoid seems to be fine. I'm guessing it's my brushes in the pump motor (pump get voltage, but she no go)

Can anyone give me some advise on brush replacement, or motor replacement? Is there a part number? Will I need to drain my hydraulic system to replace the motor (if I have to replace the whole motor). I'm attaching a couple of pics to show the set-up. HELP!!!

Please name the brand and model number of the jack system.

I am no expert but here are a couple of things to check. Make sure your battery is fully charged. Clean those rusty corroded connectors. Good luck.

Maybe a silly question, but have you checked the ground and relays?

I doubt you have a motor problem, more likely a relay.

If the motor spins in one direction, it's probably OK.

Here is some advice that saved me mucho $$$
Get a small paper towel, spray a very small amount of Wd-40 on it.
Wipe it on the metal park of the jack that retracts.
Hit the retract button. I bet it goes all the way up.
Just make sure you battery is good or your engine is running while you retract.
My motorhome requires the engine to be running when retracting.
It draws lots of amps.

Re-read the post, they go up, not down.

clean those rusted connections. if a system works, even intermittently, its ok.
99 percent of the time, the problem is a bad ground or connection.
remove them, wire brush ALL the connectors, and spray with come electronic cleaner.
i find this all the time, when a coach has been stored for a while.

Speaking about jack systems in general, the pump motor only runs in one direction, so if it runs at all, it’s OK. Your controller determines which electric solenoid valves that need to be opened to direct the oil to complete the function you are asking it to do. After setting over the winter, corroded connections would be a good place to look first if only part of the system operates.
Looks like you have plenty of connections that could use some attention.

Yep, definitely a man thing. I hate to read directions myself. Not to one up you, but, tried to extend my awning the other day and nothing. Looked at and traced all wires, all looked good. The wife says, "Did you turn on the power? "

Many RV problems are a direct result of RVs not being stored in a fully enclosed garage.
Not always a reality I know. But nonetheless a real factor in all kinds of problems especially electrical.

Wives are very helpful when you are dealing with a technical problem. You should always consult with them first. LOL
