Low water pressure

When connected to city water we have low water pressure, the regulator pressure gauge says 40 psi, when I turn the pump on it runs for 5-6 seconds then shuts off, the shower seems to have good pressure just the bathroom sink and kitchen sink seem low. I don’t have a filter in the system and I changed out the intake/check valve.

New. News!! Found the kitchen and Bathroom screens plugged but not sure why the toilet pressure is low, is there a screen in there somewhere? Any ideas what to try next?

Forty pounds is pretty low. The norm for most is between fifty and sixty. Those pressure reducers can get plugged also or go bad. I'd begin using a filter at the spigot. Change your reducer. You may also have more clogged screens at the other places you mentioned. In our rig I've taken them out and never replaced. Sometime you should check the screen at your pump too. Don't remove it, just clean.

Pump inlet often has a filter screen, city water connection washer screen and likely a screen to inlet on toilet valve
