LP Gas connector advice, please
I would like to tap into by rig's LP tank to run a portable butane grill. The grill uses the 1lb disposable green butane cans.
My rig has the shut off valve coming out of the tank, then an outlet that looks like the top of one of the disposable green gas cans, and then a pressure regulator.
Can I just use a hose to connect between the connector and the grill? The grill has a regulator for the green butane can.

Yes you can! That brass device between the shutoff valve and regulator is an "extend a stay" connector, which provides both high pressure for an external device or lets you connect an external tank if you are in one place for an extended period of time and don't want to move your coach to refill the propane.
Simply run a hose from the connector on top to your grill. You can google extend a stay for more information and find extension hoses of various lengths on Amazon.

NOT too sure... suspicion that you cannot get a proper FLAME on a BUTANE Grill using PROPANE? Have you done any research on that issue? https://duckduckgo.com/?q=BUTANE+Gri...PROPANE&ia=web

The answer depends on where the regulator in the system is. If there is a regulator before the take off port, then you cannot have a regulator on the grill. I have no idea on the propane/butane compatibility issue.
From experience, I like the greater versatility of have small bottles at the grill. Then it does not matter where you set up and there is no tripping on the hose. I also use a 1 gallon (5lb) gas bottle as its convenient to carry yet you don't have a bunch of little bottles to switch out all the time.

I agree with Appsol. I use the same setup for my portable grill or gas fire ring while traveling. At home I use it in cold weather to connect a 100lb tank for heating the coach.

The 1 lb green bottles are butane - they have the same LPG (propane) that bigger tanks provide. Butane comes in small cans for cigar & fireplace lighters

Pretty sure you meant PROPANE not Butane
Standard 1 lb bottles in the Camp Aisle is Propane
OP......
You can use that adapter to supply high pressure propane to your grill....grill regulator will control same as it does using a 1 lb propane bottle

This is a butane cylinder, not propane.

There are a few issues with a propane tap that are not immediately apparent that are relevant to short and long-term success that I will try to describe
The output of the extenda stay is full propane tank pressure which is about 200psi. The output of your RV regulator is about .5 PSI. Your grill regulator output is likely around 1 PSI. If you hook up the output of the extenda stay to your grill it will work for a while but an acidic oil will build up in your high pressure propane line which will eventually destroy your grill regulator. The solution to this problem is to add a 15-20 psi regulator at the extenda stay and then hook up your grill hose to the regulator output. At that point you will be "double regulated' but since a regulator adjusts to the output pressure and each regulator is dropping the pressure your grill regulator will work perfectly.
Here is a video from the RV geeks that somewhat explains it.

Here is a list of amazon links for what I purchased for my setup.

For my fire pit I removed the bottle fitting on that regulator and installed one of these:

Thank you. I had the grill hooked up and it worked fine, but will look into adding a 2nd regulator as getting the hose on is an issue.
Wouldn't the acidic oil go through the regulator and get downstream anyway, or does the primary regulator stop it?

I think the issue is having high pressure hose going any distance. I don't completely understand the phenomena but know it has destroyed many grill regulators.
Another issue is most of the long hoses you get for a reasonable price are not designed for high pressure, so they won't be reliable.
If you have not yet watched the RV geeks video you should.
