Motorhome Finders

Today, I looked at a private sale coach in FL listed through Motorhome Finders. The owner of the coach showed us the coach. In our conversation while looking at it, he says that his rep from Motorhome Finders says they do not allow test drives. We plan to see it again next week and are interested in making an offer. However, if they don't allow a test drive we will walk. This doesn not sound normal to me. Would you buy a used coach without a test drive? Thoughts or experience with Motorhome Finders? Thanks.

I'd have no problem with not driving it yourself, but you need to be in the passenger seat to watch him drive it and observe the gauges and operation, steering play, etc. Or walk if he doesn't want to show you.

We have test driven every coach we have purchased and our buyers have test driven the ones we’ve sold. You don’t want to offer joy rides to looky Lou’s but a serious buyer deserves to drive it before closing the deal. Even if it’s a purchase contract with a test drive contingency in it.

If the seller chooses to offer a test drive as part of showing the coach, I don't think Finders has any say about it. Presumably ( per their ad) Finders has brought a qualified buyer to the seller, so tire kickers & looky-loos shouldn't be a concern.

I wonder if they also "don't allow" pro inspections?

A reasonable compromise is to commit to buy the coach at the negotiated price, contingent on a successful test drive confirmation.

My conversation with MHF was void of any questions from them as to my financial ability to purchase a coach or any other personal info. All the more reason I found them to be useless and an added expense to a seller.
