My 2014 Itasca Meridian Roof
I can't decide what I should do for my roof & the peeling edge paint. I have been rubbing the roof down with 303 protectant. Also, scuffed the peeling clear coat on the edges and rattle can cleared it. The clear was peeling again in 2 months.
My roof seems to dry/brittle to me. I've read so many options and opinions I don't know where to start! It doesn't leak... Yet! But, need to do something before it does!
Please, please! No bickering about another person's experience & opinions.
Oh, and I don't need to spend thousands on matching the edge paint.
Thanks!!

It’s your clear coat peeling common especially on black. It has nothing to do with strength of roof or leaking purely cosmetic. You can repair not to expensive just some labor. You can’t use a cheap rattle can it needs to be a 2 part like X-2 and needs to be sanded and cleaned thoroughly.

Yes, I am a car guy so I know the clear is peeling. Thanks. I am guessing the X-2 is a brand of clear coat. It didn't come up on Goole search though...

As Rooster says, it has nothing to do with leaks or longevity - the peeling is just a cosmetic problem. And fixing it permanently takes labor and patience, cause the prep work has to be done right if you want it to last. Just spraying some fresh clear isn't going to hack it.

I had mine repainted and cleared when it was in the paint shop for collision damage. Clear coat alone won't work.
You could use black bedliner that has a smooth texture.
