Question My first motorhome

Hi all, I'm looking to buy a 2024 Newmar 3727 super star.
But before I move forward, I am looking for anything I should and must know.

I am a first time buyer of a motorhome so this is new territory for me. I'm 69, will travel solo, and in good shape. Is this doable?
As for driving this rig, I'll have no problem's as the Fire dept: trained me well.
Took a test drive, and the coach drove and stopped well.
I getting an inspection even though the coach is new.
Things I noticed are, the big slide on the drivers side isn't closing all the way on the back side. about 2 " off. dealer states needs adjustment. do these need adjustment often?
Also, when looking at the rear dooly's, there is no air extenders to the outside rim for checking/filling the inside tire. Is this normal?

Thanks for your insight and experience.
Gary the new guy!

Sounds like time to look at another rig. A slide that new and that far out sounds like trouble.

By the way, how can you tell if a salesman is lying? Answer.......... his lips are moving.

A few answers and some questions:
Is this double: Yes without a doubt
Slideout allign: I have an old one gear driven does not need much (2006) some need it more often - see if your dealer will adjust it a few time (over 2-3 years) for free if you buy.
Dually valve extenders: Get a small compressor with tank and a good dully chuck - valve extenders will fail

My questions -
Have you ever traveled and camped in an RV? If not new is expenseive way to learn - renting and finding out you don't like it is cheap, buying used is not bad, new and you are out 30+% day one.

What type of RVing do you think you will do?
Full time, winter only or week long trips?
RV Resorts? (relax with lots of other people) big rig friendly need a car
Free Camping? - off grid - Need generator or solar - tank sizes are importaint
National Parks? - Bigger is harder to find spots (30 food has more possible spaces than 35 foot, 25 foot is even better)
State Parks and COE campgrounds ?

That can impact the type of RV and size.

That should be a very nice motorhome for you to enjoy! Yes, it's doable. Don't sign anything until you get that independent inspection done, and have them correct all the problems the inspector identifies before signing anything. Hopefully the problems are few, but once the dealer has your money you may find they won't be nearly as prompt to fix problems as they are before you give them money. Also realize, even if all the initial problems an inspector finds are fixed, you may still have more problems once you drive it a bit. This is fairly normal, so it would be wise to not plan any long trips right away.

Let us know how it all works out and hopefully you'll be out enjoying the many wonders of the country very soon!

Doable? Absolutely! As to the coach in question, are you the first owner? If yes, you'll have 12 months under warranty. But if not the first owner why are you the second owner on a 2024? Newmar prides itself on rigorous inspections before a coach leaves their production line. Why were these problems missed and what else is hiding that you haven't found yet?

Lastly, if the price seems to good to be true ...

Good luck

It doesn't say much for the dealer that they haven't fixed the slide out before offering for sale. What else are they trying to hide?

i traveled with toyhauler/trailer and rode my harley all over. I now have a class a, big difference, when you want to take a nap, your bed is already warmed/cooled depending on season. You would love having a coach, you can also get a trailer if you want to bring your bike. I currently pull a Jeep so its either or cant take both :(

My wife and I toured on a series of Goldwings towing a cargo trailer.
We toured every state East of the Mississippi and from Ontario out to the Atlantic.

Our bodies now like being spoiled compared to tent camping on the bikes.
You don’t need a huge RV to enjoy revisiting a lot of the places we couldn’t stay long at when we worked……especially solo.
Personally…..we enjoy that we’ve downsized from 35’ to 25’.
We can camp almost anywhere with this size.

I have been solo for 5 years and I am 75. It is doable but I have asked for help at times.

I have a big class A with slides because that is what DW wanted. It was our home with many good memories. If something happened to it, I would replace it with something smaller.

I've been riding bikes since I was 13 (71 now) so I can see the beauty of having a bike along. We used to bring one of my bikes on a trailer for years, but now I pull a 2010 Ford Ranger and put either 2 bicycles or a mc in the back. Getting old I guess, but riding in the rain doesn't have the same appeal any more. Besides, my wife isn't so excited about riding behind me anymore either.

Absolutely doable. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask somebody at a nearby site. You'll be surprised at how helpful people will be if you ask nicely. Most will stay out of your business unless you invite them to help.
