New Member Here

I am new here and I have done a bit of research here before to get info related to possible purchase of a 1996 KountryStar that I have now decided just wasn't for my wife and I.
I love this site because it has shown me what to look for before making my decision. I finally made the choice to register and become a member here. Oorah!!!!
I now have my eyes on a 1989 Gulf Stream Sun Vista High-Rise with a carbureted Ford 460.
I am very interested in this MH because:

A. I have the chance to purchase it for a VERY good price
B. The interior and exterior are in awesome shape
C. ALL the appliances and components work fantastic
D. NO LEAKS

Only one problem
It doesn't run and the previous owner did not try to get it running or even try turning over the engine but just lived in it for a few months while he was going thru a divorce. Now that the divorce is final, I he just wants out from underneath it.

The question I have is: Is this a "Stripped" ford chassis like the F53?
The steering wheel has the Ford blue oval insignia on it.
Without the chassis designation, I can't find the replacement parts I will need.
I consider myself fully capable of working to get this monster running even if it requires a full engine rebuild and I do have all the tools needed for the task.
Looking forward to hitting the road this summer.

Good luck with your search, I just don't have the ability to offer any help with it.

Howdy and welcome to the forum. If you get the vin # and take it the Ford garage they will tell you exactly what you have. From there you can research what you will need to get it up and running. Good luck and hope all works out. Do post some pics of your progress.

Thanks alot all for making me feel so welcome.

Steve N Sal, I really appreciate the point in the right direction. I think I am going to get the vin this morning and do a little search in the good ole interwebs with vin decoder.

I'll keep y'all updated with a post later with pics as well.
Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Well, I have an update. This is a John Deere chassis and the vin decoders on the web ALL say that it's a 1988 but the registration and pink slip say its a 1989. I found that odd.
I will post pics later today.

Chassis made in 1988 and motor home built in 1989.

What waroland said. Not uncommon. The chassis can sit for a while before getting into the shop to have the rest of the motorhome built onto it.
