New MH Tires - OREGON

I am a Canadian and I am looking to buy 6 new tires for my class A motorhome in Oregon (No Tax). Toyo M143 245x70x19.5 look to be a good choice. Where in the state of Oregon would be a good place to buy them. Thanks for your help, folks.

Superior Tire in North Portland is the best! They have a huge stock and are a Michelin Dealer. I think Les Schwab is the Toyo dealer; and if I remember right, all these "dealers" say they can get you the brand of tire you want, but prices will be different. So, it still pays to shop.

I suggest you use "Equal" balancing beeds inside. I love the ride, never need to rebalance, and your tires will always ride-true.

Anywhere in Oregon as there are many RV tire distributors now that have an online presence so they can have a central warehouse, decreasing costs enough by avoiding having to ship to thousands of tire stores. That cost reduction is revealed in the often 'Free shipping' offered. They do carry name brands. But, of course, recently, many have stopped offering the free shipping but they still tend to be less expensive than a tire store, even paying shipping.

So, find an RV park somewhere that's not too remote (like near a sight you want to see like Crater Lake), make sure they allow shipments to your RV space, find your best online price, then store them in or near your RV until you can drive to say, a nearby Love's Tire Center. They don't mind installing your tires...cost is around $50/tire. I have also found local tire shops that would let me ship tires right to them, then install them for me. I've also received tires and padlocked them to the RV park's picnic table for a couple weeks before taking them and the RV to a Love's.

Tires

I purchased tires fro Commercial Tire in Hermiston. Nearby campground is Marina Park on the Columbia about ten minutes away.

Les Schwab is awesome. We were planning to drive to Alaska and wanted all new tires on the motorhome. They were getting close to 6yr. We called Les Schwab in Eugene, OR and ordered them & requested the dates all match and had to be within 6m. We drove from Arizona and when we arrived they were ready for us. The dates were all 1m old.... very fresh tires ..... and a good price.

Be careful of Les Schwab stores. They have repeatedly had young guys with little experience work on my RV. I have to watch them like a hawk. Once at a TRUCK TIRE Les Schwab they torqued my lugs to 125 ft-lbs when they should have set them at 450 ft-lbs. They didn't bother to check how tight they were when removed and set them way low. Another time I had to run out and grab my jack stand and show the so called big tire tech what the notch in the middle of the stand was for...so the lug wrench would stop slipping off and rounding off my lug nuts.

So, no, don't trust them. I've had much better luck with independent truck tire stores. Or Love's Tire Shops.

Actually, I've learned to watch ALL techs in any situation. None of them seem to know anything.

I just had the exact tires you mentioned installed by Les Schwab Tires in Grants Pass, OR (on Union; there are 2 stores there). Dealt with Jordan Tartaglioni who took excellent care of us, including getting the exact stems, grommets, DOT dates, and balancing that we wanted. Work was all done professionally and on time, and at a very competitive price. I'm very comfortable recommending them.

Make sure you do your homework before buying south of the border. I needed tires for my Class A coach and found the Toyos were cheaper here in Port Kells, BC than in the USA. Even checking and comparing against discount tire sites like Motorhome tires, etc.

What store in Port Kells did you use for your new TOYO tires?

Tirecraft in Port Kells. 9250-195th Street, Langley, BC, Canada V4N 4G2. Bought 2 front tires for my previous coach, a Newmar Canyon Star 3921 - Toyo M154...265/75R22.5, 1480.64 for two, tax, recycling fees, mounting & balancing. Did this last year in Sept.
