1. What was your tire source?
2. How did you or the source handle the tire age question?
3. Are you still satisfied with the steel BBs? I have been thinking of going with Magnum+ beads because of their large size.
The tire change video was interesting from the number of corners that were cut - no balancing, old valves stems/cores reused, no crossing pattern used when tightening the lug nuts. He did not clean the wheel's bead seat area. Though it does appear he understands/uses gravity and leverage to his advantage.
Thanks,

- I bought the tires through Amazon.
- The tires were about 18 months old when they arrived. I wasn't too concerned because my research indicated tires age slower when new and unmounted and stored in a warehouse. I probably lost 6-9 months. However I paid $232 each. At that price I could afford to loose a few months service life. The tires were sourced by simpletire.com. If you bought directly from them you might be able to insist on getting younger tires. I see their current price is closer to $300 each.
- The steel BB's are working fine. The MH drives very smoothly. No vibration at any speed. There is a possibility that the tires needed no balancing and the BB's are not doing anyting!
The guy in the video did leave out steps. I presume he was acting on the desires of his client. I did clean my wheels thoroughly and laid the tires flat to seat the bead, threw in the BB's to balance and performed other proper tire mounting techniques. After doing the mount and dismount, I think he is a lot stronger than he looks.
