newbie owner generator blows fuse
Hi all,
I have a 2001 Rexhall anthem with a generac diesel/lp generator. As soon as I push the start button the generator the 15 amp fuse on the gen blows. Which is most likely, a short inside the genset, or like a switch or such? There is one wire on one side of the fuse, and 2 on the other leg, does one of these go to the remote?
Ive read about switches going bad, etc, and I'm checking with ohm meter. What does the remote generator switch look like and where is it? I purchased this MH from a son who sold it for his dad, he knew nothing of the systems. Is there such a thing as an owners manual to tell me what the switches and lights mean?

Nothing is on. I've tried with land power connected and disconnected. The start/stop switch feels wonky. and now my meter bit the dust.

Will it start and run and not produce ? If so it could be the voltage regulator .... If it will start and not run the generator is not putting out and need armatures to be cleaned.. The remote start control should be on your dash or by your other controls water, inverter ec..

gen doesn't start. I can hear a relay click, then fuse blows when engaging start position on switch. There is a straight short, the fuse produces the blue spark of despair, with a pop!

See if you can find the remote start wires coming into the genset. Unplug them and try to start it with the switch on the genset. This will eliminate external wiring. If it starts, your problem is external, if not internal.
Good Luck and Happy Glamping.
