No DC

Tightened up positive clamp on positive cable exiting inverter & everything worked
Real Happy
Went back 1 hour later NOTHING
I'm leaning toward purchasing a new converter as I'm also unable to fully charge my new house batteries when on shore power
Is there an easy & definitive test I can perform on my converter to determine if unit is bad or on its last leg
If need be I can remove converter to perform test but would prefer to leave unit in motorhome & do test
My motorhome is a 2006 & it just may be time to replace converter but before buying a new converter i would like to test it
thanks
Ted

I have a 2007 and have replaced my converter twice. Get a volt om meter and check converter out put, it should be above 13V. Go to your fuse panel and check for voltage on each fuse. You can isolate the problem this way. When replacing I found the best price on Ebay.

My 2002 Dutch Star still had the OEM inverter when we traded it in on the '09 Magna in 2015.

I can think of one quick and dirty test you can do with no tools.

When the coach is plugged up, open your battery disconnects. If there are no lights or power to refrigerator control panel, CO and LPG detectors, or power to your HVAC, then that is a good indication that the problem is isolated to your power converter. If there is DC power available, then maybe your battery (ies) could be shorted and are tripping the converter output.

Does your converter hum when plugged up? Can you hear a fan start up if it's been energized for a while? If so, then the next step is to check its output. Start at the converter and work your way to the 12VDC fuse panel.

Does your coach use an inverter/charger or converter for charging the batteries. Fair difference in cost if considering replacement. Starting point though is to dig out the Digital volt meter and compare voltages with and without charger.

Charging voltage should be 1.5 to 2 volts higher than battery voltage.

These are about the best converters on the market and only a couple coach bucks. https://www.amazon.com/Progressive-D...ower+converter
