Unable to find/replace a leaking a oil fill tube grommet (entering the valve cover)on a Workhorse P-30 chassis. Tried GMC, Workhorse, local parts, etc. The parts they bring in are all to small and look like they fit the PVC valve.

Fill tube itself is approx. 1 3/8". Diameter of the grommet where it enters the valve cover is approx. 1 7/8 OD.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi tjwolf,

This is merely a guess on my part, but have your local Chevy or GMC dealer see if they can match you up a grommet from a full size van that's about the same vintage as your MH. I know the Express vans have a long fill tube that's used in similar fashion to the motorhome you have. It's worth a shot.

EDIT: Took a look in GM Service Information and found an illustration showing the same type of tube and grommet on a 2000 Chevy Express van with a 5.7L engine.

Tom,you may find a rubber grommet that size at a electrical store or a plumbing shop. Both have all sizes in stock.

Sorry for the incomplete info. The unit is a 1990 with a 454 GMC/Chev.

Have been to the Chev. dealer and Work Horse dealer, they cross- referenced Winnebago and tried vans. Brought in in two different grommets, both looked like they were for PVC valves. The replacement needs to be about 1 7/8" OD X 1 3/8" ID(tube dia.)and appears to fit into the area where a fill tube would normally be located on an auto. Thanks to all! Tom

Thanks Horsepowerfan! Tried the 5.7L route at two dealers. One had a grommet that looked like it will fit. Won't know for a couple of weeks for sure. Have moved the MH to the lake for awhile. Its real work to "snake" it up the hill and around the trees. Parked it near to our Travel Supreme. They work out nicely as a cabin and guest house.
Thanks to all who responded.

Tom
