I have a Onan 6000 6hdak Diesel Generator.
I preheat it and then hear a click and the engine does not turn over.
I had it running the other day. I shut it off a now it won't turn over.
Any thoughts.

Do you know what battery bank your gen set starts from ?

Have you checked voltages ?

Did you re-try while holding the boost switch ?

At our shop we would start by checking the voltage at the battery connection, on the generator, for voltage. (While cranking) It sounds like low voltage.

Have you tried from right at genny panel . Many reports of issues with remote harness plug. Also unplug it and try at panel. There are isolator lugs at rear of genny with cables at both ends carefully clean these. Best to use battery disconnect and near by ground to frame most likely.
The genny has a starter relay hopefully it's okay.
You could use battery load tester right at the genny lugs.
I had a bad starter on my Generac but it did try to crank. I cleaned every positive cable I laid eyes on before getting into genny.
