Onan Genset Repaired

We picked up our 97 Bounder this afternoon from Joe’s RV Repair in Jonesboro, AR. Joe had to remove the Onan and replace the ignition rotor assembly. He also rebuilt the starter. Lack of use and mice had taken it’s toll on it but now it runs like new! Joe is the man to see for fair and dependable RV repair!

A good dealer is a wonderful thing. I watched Nomadic Fanatic try several dealers and repairs on his gasoline generator and no one seemed to be able to fix it for more than a day or so.

Thank you for tip.. it seems so hard to find good gen repair.. or even a shop that will try..
Big job.. at least to me.. there are you tube vids.. where mice get into gens.. and build nest and then the ignition rotors are broken off.. when someone tries to start..
So.. in the future for those that have older style of gens.. use bore scope camera to inspect where timing sensor goes and look for problems and use air to keep gen clean..
Critters love tasty wires and rubber hoses and lines and nest... short... and love rv tasty lines and wires.. so when things go haywire and don't make sense keep critters in the back of your mind all the time...
Good luck and keep us posted..

Smile Repair Cost

We had other problems that Joe repaired for us such as cruise control switch replaced, brake light switch replaced, removed driveshaft and replaced rear u-joint, lubed the rest, adjusted park brake, adjusted shoes and servo on auto park brake. That being said, it took 13 hours labor @ $125 an hour plus $288.67 for parts, shop supplies and freight. After $161.39 tax the total was $2075.06 so considering a new Genset runs around $13k I was very happy. No joke it sounds smooth as silk.

The mice had filled every cavity in the Genset with nests and acorns and the rv was not used for 4 years.
