Painter recommendations

Hi!

I have been searching the forum but have not found much recent info and it seems rv painting prices have tripled in the last ~10 years. Does anyone have recommendations for shops or mobile painters for repairing the peeling clearcoat around the perimeter of a 36ft Class A roof and minor touch up painting. Estimates seem to involve basecoats as well as clearcoat and are running $7000+. Or is this just the going rate now?

We will be in the LHC Arizona area.

Thanks!!!

Depending on the extent of the repairs that's cheap. You could easily be looking at twice that amount.

It is for around the perimeter of the roof roll and caps.

It is for prepping and fixing the clearcoat but they figure they will get into basecoat prepping.

They have to get all the failed clearcoat off. The colorcoat is usually pretty thin and hard to stop sanding without going through it in places.
You might try Maaco since it's up where it won't be seen that much.

My 97 Chevy p/u had failed clearcoat on the roof and hood. All the premium places I went said they had to blend it into the top of the side panels.
It's $500 per panel, so $2500-2000.
Maaco did it for $550. A little orange peel but seemed like a good job for a $5000 pickup.

Automotive basecoat-clearcoat paint has doubled in price within the last two years, and heaven help you if your color contains red or yellow pigments. One quart of PPG basecoat for the primary color on my mh was $328 this past summer. I'm sure the labor costs have increased also but not near as much as the materials have.

Sounds high to me. Bring it to Michigan and I'll do it for that amount.

The paint is about $600 on it's own. Sanding to gelcoat is about 8 hours of work. Paint is another 8 ontop of that. So three days total. Not bad for $6000. It's going to take a shop two weeks to do that three days of work. And a month of screwing around.

But if that's the best price you can find for quality work, then it is what it is unless you break out the sandpaper. It kinda doesn't make any difference what a forum says unless someone on the forum is going to do the work for you.

APR RV on East Apache Trail in Mesa might be an option.

When we had our RV painted I did search and found 1 bad review, you can do a search here for RV reviews to see if there is any bad reviews for Ace and what the problem was. RV Service Reviews
