Palazzo or Allegro Breeze?
Hello everyone. Thanks for letting me join your community. I’ve recently been and very close to purchasing a used class A. I have two n mind however find myself looking for some knowledge. I’m currently looking at a 2019 Palazzo 33.2 and also throwing around a 2017 Tiffin Allier breeze 33’. I find myself attracted to the Palazzo however I know from searching around the Tiffin seems to be a better build option? The palazzo has the 300hp Cummins and the tiffin has the 280hp. I’m not new to the rv community and understand most of the time there is alaways something little that needs to be repaired. I’m an elevator mechanic so I can usually take care of the little stuff myself. I currently have a Lance out of necessity to tow my 33’ boat. I know I can’t tow my boat with either due to its weight. 11k with trailer. I’m looking for pros and cons of both models that may be red flags or positive purchasing aspects. Some items I’ve seen come to light are slide motors? Upholstery (seems to be the 2016 years?) flooring on the Palazzo.
Any info and guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Josh

Why not consider something that can pull the boat on trailer even if you need to go a bit older?

Hi Josh! Welcome to IRV2! We’re sure glad you joined the gang here!
Personally I would prefer the Tiffin! JMHO
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

A year or two older DP in a 36' length would still tow your boat.
If you don't need to tow your boat, it wouldn't even be a question.....get the Tiffin. If you have a chance to examine both coaches again....get past the glitzy items and look closely at the build quality, wiring and fit finish. Often one may have a bunch of flashy items to attract buyers, but when you look at the spec sheet of both, you'll see one spent the money on the more important structural stuff.

Both choices are still Deisel lightweights. I would be hesitant to go with the 280Hp. These probably also have the smaller transmissions. Unless you really need the smaller coach, I would look for the Alllison 3000, at least an 8kw generator and substantial weight carrying and towing capacity.

Doesn’t the Tiffin Breeze have a very low towing capacity, like #4k with a nearly empty Coach….on a good day? As stated, these are both diesel “lightweights”. Nothing wrong with that if towing isn’t a concern, but it always pays to do your homework. Just keep in mind when towing at or near max GCVWR on the lower hp/displacement diesels don’t expect any sort of fuel economy savings or drivability advantages these smaller coaches were advertised as having.

That year Breeze has the Cummins ISV V8 that was developed for Dodge but landed in the Nissan Titan pickup. It appears to be sufficiently troublesome in both applications that I would take it off my list. The ISV went out of production in 2019. As of the 2021 model year the Breeze moved to the well proven Cummins ISB series engine.

My thought as well. A newer RED 33A will still be short while getting you into a 360/3000 engine transmission combo. That will give you a 10K tow capacity.

I think if you are not getting at least an ISC you are probably better off getting a gasser. The smaller Diesels do have their compromises.

If you are serious about towing an 11k 33' boat, I'd look at a tag axle DP....it will have a 15k towing capacity, a lot more stability and plenty of power.

Pretty sure the OP is not planning on towing his big boat with this, per his original post. Only thing in that length that could tow that much would be a smaller Super C. With the boat trailer, it would be close to 70'. With a tag axle it would be at least 75' in total length and probably more, so not much fun to park or maneuver. I can't imagine dealing with that at most boat ramps, although someone on here has probably done it.

The breeze we considered until after researching we decided against. The earlier models had a troubled engine ( diesel pickup ). No hydraulic leveling. Very small refrigerator (no way to upgrade to larger). Otherwise, a very nice coach. For a weekend rv camper it would probably be nice.

Research is your friend
I believe that the Youtube channel - "RV America (was RV Texas) You-All" had a Palazzo before they moved to an ISV 5.0 Breeze. Review their channel for information on both motorhomes.
The 2020 Breeze was built with the ISB-6.7 after the Tiffin inventory of ISV-5.0s was consumed.
The Red 33AA has a slightly shorter wheelbase than the Breeze and has a dependent front suspension while the Breeze has IFS. The 33AA is longer, wider, taller and heavier than the Breeze.
Research, research, research .....
