I ruptured a power steering to radiator fan line on my 1994 DP. I've replaced the lines and haven't located a serving port. My engine is a Cummins C8.3-250 turbo in a Spartan Chassis. I can not find anything that resembles a power steering pump or location to service to replace the lost fluid. A couple lines head off into the radiator and some cross over towards the transmission housing. I found nothing that resembles an automotive type power steering pump.

Can anyone direct me to a place to start looking and a description or picture of the servicing port?

Thanks,
Jim

Some diesels have a hydraulic power system that drives the radiator fans as well as power steering and other auxiliary power needs. I don't know enough about the Cummins 8.3L to say if it is one of these or where to refill with fluid.

Maybe a call to Cummins is in order?

Gary,

Thanks for the thought. I emailed Cummins they said contact the chassis manufacturer. Cummins described where they thought it should be, missed it by about 30 feet. A couple guys on RV.Net hit the nail on the head. They said it was located engine, right rear, looking forward. They said look for an old style thermos bottle plug in a 20" tall by 12" across canister. Bingo!!! Life is good again.

Thanks,
