Captain8 - Got to give it to you - you are a die hard Prevost guy and nothing will sway you to believe in anyway it’s not perfect in every way- good for you - do you work for Prevost ? If not you outa look into a position or a consulting role as a brand ambassador. If I could buy either a Prevost or a Newell it would be a Newell as I believe it’s the only true custom per your description- you can actually decide a front entry or mid entry and where the bays are located plus it has a bigger badder engine.. hopefully we have some Newell folks to chime in after I’m done writing this as Captain8 will have a response and justification lol.

Hahaha I just don't think people realize how much different Newell and Prevost is from the rest of the coaches. There's some super Cs that seem to be fully custom as well but not to that caliber yet.
My next would have to be Newell too as Prevost doesn't make 40ft anymore and I don't want anything larger. Actually I just setup an account with Prevost parts today and they have all the Vins and all documentation online. There's 62 total XL2 40s and the other 40s were 80s or early 90s. Of the 62 apparently only 20 had slides and some googling showed superbus made 17 of those. There were 3 40fters made after mine but I can't find anything on their Vin online which makes me assume they weren't private coaches.... so I likely got the last 40fter that has slides.
BTW I'm just a fan of Prevost because I'm an engineer and just proud of how well everything is designed. Idk if Newell is like that as there isn't much info on the controls and I haven't see their mechanical bays.
Also maybe my old posts from when I bought my Fleetwood Discovery and all the frustrations of how poorly it was designed gives you a better idea that I'm not biased because I own it I'm biased because I'm just impressed

Too bad this discussion ended a few months ago. Maybe the OP is still looking. If he bought a new coach, an update would be great!
I’ve owned several coaches, including a 2016 Cornerstone, a 2018 King Aire, a 2008 Prevost Marathon XLii, and now a 2023 Cornerstone. I’m in the process of getting that ‘23 Cornerstone traded for another 2007 H Prevost Marathon. When I drove it, I loved the chauffeur feel, so I don’t mind that.
I sold my ‘08 Marathon and got out of motor coaching for over a year, due to work, but I’m back, and thought a new Cornerstone would do the trick. Great looking coach, but nowhere near the quality of a Prevost (not just ride quality, everything). By the way, neither was the King Aire, which I traded for the ‘08 Marathon. I’ve never driven a Newell but I do not care for their tiny bays. That’s, to me, the main disqualifier. Not to mention, their new stability control systems were developed I believe 2013-14 and onward, which commands a big price tag, and the DEF situation to deal with. We travel 12-15k miles every year, even as we still work full time, so the ride is everything to me.
To the OP, I hope you got a nice coach. All coaches break. That’s a fact. I owned my first Marathon for 3 years. When I needed it fixed, any Prevost service center would take me that same day. I’ve already had to send the ‘23 cornerstone to the dealership , and pay a driver, during my first month of ownership due to a bad module. Even after replacing the module, the camera system still goes completely pretty much every trip, and I have to do a hard 12V reset to make it work. I had the same issues with the King Aire, never with the Marathon. Production coaches are cool looking, but the quality is not there.
Good luck!

5 months in with my 08 XL2 and over 10k miles. Only thing that has broke was the engine air pump hose popped off, simple stop to advance auto and few minute repair in the parking lot and it's working. Leaking still but works. Couple other things broke that were my fault, a remote fell behind the wall slide and it ripped out part of the wall..didn't even phase the valid slides. Found out the alternator was 24v but used a 12v regulator so when switching the regulator out with a wakespeed the voltage started spiking and it blew some interior electronics.
As I remodel I'm constantly impressed with how well this thing is built.

Hi, late to the party, but I've been enjoying this thread. I've been researching Class A DPs for some time, and have a little info:
Newell P50 GVWR is 63,600 lb- Towing cap is 25,000 lb. Cummins X15 605hp/1950 ft.lbs
Prevost H3-45 GVWR 53,000 lb- towing cap is 20,000 lb. Volvo D13 500hp/1850 ft.lbs
Foretravel FS605 GVWR is 54,000 lb - towing cap is 20,000 lb. Cummins X15 605hp/1950 ft.lbs
The x15 Cummins can be tuned up about 30% (by PDI) with a larger turbo and better manifolds up to more like 800hp and 2500 ft lbs for a bunch of money, which also increases efficiency and can improve fuel mileage if you keep your foot out of it. It is generally recommended to not mod the Volvo/Prevost engine from what research I've done.
Generalizing about the individual features of a Newell is kind of pointless as they are all custom built, no two are alike unless you order them that way. They do build some "show coaches" that are designed by staff to go to shows. Newell manufactures about the same number of coaches a year as Liberty Coach converts.
And if you want a mid-entry high end coach, the Newell is about it. Newell builds each chassis according to the needs of the coach design. A mid entry chassis is not the same as a front entry. Different slide configuration, different chassis design. All bespoke for each coach.
Hope this helps someone, and that its fairly accurate....
edit, the Newell generator is 20KW, btw.

2004 Marathon H3-45 here, and feel the same way about ours. Will never trade it, just keep updating it as the years pass. The engineering on both the Prevost chassis side and the Marathon "house" side of the conversion is exceptional. Prevost did the 20-yr look at it last year and told me that since we drive is about 20K per year, the coach should be good for another 20+ years which will be long after I am done. And yes, all RVs, boats, etc, even homes will have maintenance issues. It's purely a cost of ownership.
And Prevost's can be updated indefinitely.......Not many can say that.
By the end of this year, our 2004 will look like a 2022.

That's how I feel about my 05/08 xl2 40ft. I'd only sell it if I plan on not using anymore, otherwise its just upgrading. Its a lot more like a home where you can remodel which is completely different than all the other RVs which are designed to only last x years and be replaced. I don't think Newells even are designed to last forever.
