Proposed EPA modification to DEF engine derating rules

I don't have a MH that uses DEF, but I thought that others might find this new EPA proposal interesting. Unfortunately, it doesn't really solve the problem that MH owners are currently experiencing:

I'm glad someone at the EPA is listening but I'm afraid it's too late for most of the current model motor home owners with issues. By 2027 most of the current models will be out of warranty. I doubt Cummins will spend the time and money to retro fit older motor homes (and trucks) once they are out of warranty.

Unfortunately, the only way to get action quicker is for someone to file suit based on safety issues of being de-rated to 5mph on a freeway.

Good news...too late for many

I saw this too and took a couple points.
  1. All the blame is put on the manufactures for the 5 mph derate
  2. 2027 seems way too late for a fix for those of us already with this dangerous possibility

They just need to allow the manuf to flash the engine controllers to allow a 45mph top speed.

It could be that easy, but the EPA is involved…!
