Yesterday I had 2 men stop at my house to try to purchase my Class A motorhome. I had seen them earlier on my security cameras ringing my door bell, however I was not home at that time. I live on a corner lot so my rig is on my back driveway and not facing the main road. They asked if my motorhome was available to purchase and my wife immediately told them no. I gave a high price of $165k, the 2nd man shot out a lowball offer of $100k, I said no, $165k. He was adamant that $100k was what I should settle for. These 2 guys also did not look like they would have that much cash combined. Now I wonder if they were trying to flip my rig if I accepted the rediculous offer. Anybody run into this type of aggressive approach on thier motorhome? By the way I have a 2006 Beaver Thunder 525 C-13 Cat with 4 slides and 55k miles, 43 ft with tag axle, top condition.

More than likely they are casing your property to burglarize.
The motorhome is simply an excuse to be there for a closer look.
My suggestion, secure everything, leave lights and security on 24/7, add motion sensors to activate some noisemakers.

Years ago we had a freaky creeper/peeper working our neighborhood in Seattle. My young son actually saw him looking in his bedroom window one evening. Freaked him out so bad he rigged up a ground tripwire to one of those personal screeching noisemakers, the ones you pull the lanyard on to activate. Sure enough, it went off a few nights later. End of problem.

In that situation, I would have immediately taken my phone out and taken their pictures, along with a picture of their vehicle & lic. plate. Wouldn’t hurt to ask for their ID also just in case you need that information down the road. If they’re getting to pushy, beware.

This whole thread could be a scam. OP could be trying to list his RV for sale here without saying it's for sale ? Just saying.

Try parking your classic pony car in any condition out where passersby can see it. They'll knock on your door, leave notes, all kinds of stuff. I drive a pickup truck regularly that's older and a bit rare. At least once a month someone asks about buying it. Mostly very nicely and politely but not 100%.

When I had our Shasta parked up by the garage within sight of the road, a few times a year I'd have people knock on the door asking if I was interested in selling it. The answer was always no thanks, and then usually we'd chat for a minute or two about old iron and they would be on their way.

To the second point, if they were willing to pay what you were asking, why do you care what they do with it afterward? Whether it's for family use, parking in the woods as a hunting cabin, or for a flip...if you make an ask and get what you want, both parties are whole, and move on.

anyone that randomly asks to buy someone's "unadvertised" vehicle should be held with high caution.

Some things I get, but if its not listed move along.

I suspect post #4 is accurate in that you are being targeted. But there are a lot of assumptions in this scenario. Maybe they were honest interested buyers.

I am most emphatically not trying to sell my rig, I have been working on it for the past year and a half to catch up on neglected maitenance in order to get ready for a Alaskan adventure. I am on a busy secondary state highway so fairly constant traffic. The situation was that I was in the middle of pulling off my wifes front brake pads on her jeep SRT Grand Cheerokee so when they stopped I was busy and distracted. They stayed in tier pickup, never asked tyo look at the rig or its interior, just if I would take $100k to sell it. I thought about taking thier license plate number after they left, my mind was occupied with the brake noise solution (chamfer the new pads) I also have a couple of 68 barracuda's but they are in a back garage so not visible. I will take everybodys advice, I do have multiple indoor as well as outside remote camera's with phone notification to alert me to people when they walk around my house. I will also use my rear run box to shut off the starter relay. Gotta love the new reality of todays society.

Happens regularly in winter with lots of folks down for warm weather. They are casing your house , property and rv. You have been selected by them as folks with nice things to steal. Prepare for their return, usually between 2 and 4 am in the early morning. Ask law enforcement for additional patrols. Notify neighbors (good neighbors) to report suspicious activity in your area to you and law enforcement. Stay safe.
