Re-upholster Dinette Cushions? Anywhere? Anyone?
I figure this has had to be done by someone, somewhere, at some point. I figure you can take the old vintage cloth covers off of the cushions and send them to someone and have new ones sewn up to update to a more modern fabric. Anyone know of someone that is affordable and had a good experience?

Have you looked locally for an upholstery shop? I have had custom cushions made by a local guy, and making and re-covering things is what those shops do.

There are upholstery shops in most every decent sized town or city. Go there, pick out the material, and have the job done.

Besides from above posts..If you have a local avid boater friend , he probably has more ask him/her to ask around F.B. friends wouldn't hurt. I like word of mouth on that kind of thing. I used to have a guy for auto upholstery many moons ago.
Regular upholstery shops may a better selection of cloth type samples to choose from or you can request samples online upholstery stores for nominal fee. you may want to think about updating the foam as well, it has improved more than fabrics in recent years.

Do you have a picture of the chair? Some cushion covers aren't sewn, they are just a square piece of material folded over and stapled to the underside.

Re-upholster Dinette Cushions? Anywhere? Anyone?
I had mine done at the local upholsterer whom I had used previously for my auto. I only wanted new foam as the fabric was still good, so I took the cushions to him, he measured them and ordered the foam. Later I brought the cushions back and he cut the foam to size and swapped it out. They feel like they are new but look original. The cost was for the foam only.

Hey Grindstone,
Yeah they're full on sewn and zippered cushions-- I have contemplated doing the DIY method with the plywood and stapling, I just need time to commit to it!

I use an upholstery shop that does a lot of custom cars. This type of shop can do most anything you like or even custom changes.. I had all my chairs ,sofa, and dinette done in leather for a lot less than you would think.
