Camera works great in drive. When I place gear shift in reverse, it goes blank white. It just started doing that out of the clear. Any thoughts please. Thanks.

BB501, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us. Can you give us the make & model number of the system? Many are designed to work in reverse but not in forward unless you override the reverse power wiring with a switch on the face of the monitor. You might want to check the wiring to the monitor to be sure all connections are tight and no chaffed insulation is causing this problem. Let us know of a make and model and we will go from there.

I can't think of my model right now. It is a B&W and it comes on automatically in reverse. There is a "standby" switch that when pressed turns the monitor on for viewing while stopped or in drive.
The issue I have with mine is that when going down the road, the display brightness changes as if it were "flickering". I will check the cable connections for corrosion and tightness this weekend but has anyone else experienced this?

How old is the monitor? If it is the orginial, and the display jumps as you are driving, I would say that the CRT or the high voltage coil is going bad. In which case, the only thing that you can do is replace the monitor. It will cost more to repair it, than to replace it. Good luck, and let us know what you find.

I will check this as the connections all looked good. OAN, there is a TV guy near me (25 miles) and he has fixed what others have not been able to for just a few dollars so I may pull the CRT and have him check it out.
BTW, can a color monitor and camera be substituted or does it require new wiring?

I have a simular problem with mine. Sporaticaly when I first start to drive the screen will go white. I can see nothing on it. This lasts for a bout 5 to 10 minutes then the picture will slowly return. I have no idea what causes it???

Sounds like the switch which normally turns your monitor on is not functioning since you say it normally turns on when in reverse. I suspect there is a blown fuse or break in that wiring.
