Recalled Kidde Fire Extinguisher on sale for $ 12.89

Menards has an exact fit replacement for the Kidde General-Use 1-A : 10-B : C Fire Extinguisher that is subject to recall on sale for $ 12.89

Was worth it to me to buy one and not to mess with the recall process.

Kidde 1A-10B-C from Menards

What messing with ?? The Recall process .. fill out the online form with model and serial number .. fill in mailing address and email. Wait for mail delivery of replacements ( I had 2) no charge whatsoever. what’s to mess with? It’s a good price certainly if you need some more .. but for less than 5 minutes online and done , other than actually looking at the extinguisher and reading /writing the numbers down. Certainly worth a few minutes of my time [emoji106]

Settle down...lol. It's always good to have a good one on hand immediately. Then when the new one arrives it can go in the trunk or toad. Smile.

I only thing I saw on IRV2.com was the process to request a replacement via a phone call to Kidde in Canada, I tried it over the phone and it did not go smooth. I had a situation where Winnebago had put a Canadian model in my Winnebago rather than a US model.

Without putting my hands on one, I would think that they are part of the recall since they have the plastic heads and handles. If the recall replacement is a refillable metal head unit it would be worth $13 and the time to fill out an online form. If I had a Menards, I would be buying several.

The cardboard box the extinguisher came in had METAL VALVE printed on the bottom of the box in big black letters. It also was not labeled MADE IN MEXICO like the recalled ones are. So the ones Menards are selling seem to be OK.

I called in my recalled fire extinguishers

I called them a few days ago and did my (2) recalled extinguishers. Excellent customer service. I should be receiving my new extinguishers in the mail soon. Then I have to follow the instructions and mail the defective ones back to them. Glad they are paying the postage as they are big and heavy. Have your extinguisher handy as they asked for several numbers off the extinguisher.

The image from the website is showing a plastic head. Would it be possible to post a pic of the head assembly on yours?

Here is a link to the Kidde recall online request. Just select the type of extinguisher you have at the bottom and there's a simple form to fill out. You will need model and serial number, then the system will tell you if yours is affected. I did mine yesterday and it took all of five minutes.
