Reflectix in cabinets

Hi folks,

I had a thread on this before but cannot access it from the phone app so starting a new one.

I have half a roll of reflectix left over from making window shades and would like to use it up.

Is it worth putting it in the cabinets and if so should it be flush with the wall/ceiling or leave an air gap? Also should it be removable for inspection?

Absolutely, I have lined the back wall of all my cabinets to cut the radiating cold or heat, depending n where you are. I also stuffed it in to fill up all the air space between my refrigerator and it's interior compartment. Any place I can put it to stop radiant hot or cold I have added Reflictix and it woorks very well. My furnace or AC now actually cycle with long periods between rather than run continuously. I also bought some pipe insulator foam pieces and stuff then between the gap of my slide and ceiling/floor to stop any air leakage there as well.

Sounds good. Do you leave the pipe insulator in place on the slide?

I've used it anywhere I can in the coach. In cabinets that are against an exterior wall I use velcro squares hold it in place flush against the wall but also for easy removal. When I replaced the fridge I lined the exterior wall and ceiling of the alcove to help the fridge stay cold. Also have a sheet inside the top of the front cap and another that snaps in place covering the shower skylight. Haven't tried the pipe insulation for the slides but will look into it once the snow melts.

I put Reflectix on the back walls of all our cabinets that were on outside walls! I attached it with a staple gun and short staples.

Hi all,

Just spent the afternoon at the coach. It was 5f so fired up the furnace and two oil filled radiators and heated the coach to 65F.

I got all the kitchen cabinets and the hall wardobe done, I used push pins.
Also made up ones for the shower sky light and entry door window using Velcro.

I went to start with the wardrobe next to the bed and noticed some frozen condensation, I will need this to thaw and dry out before I complete this part. No big deal as was nearly out of reflectix.

I have yet to do under the dinnete, kitchen sink and drawers. I need to see if I need to do the end cap.

I did also purchase an infra red temp sensor gun.

Yes, I leave the pipe insulators stuffed in while parked. I put them in when I extend the slide and setup and I remove it when I close the slide to leave.

Perfect, I did notice a significant draft yesterday under the slide even when in, I will get some pipe insulation.

After opening the wardobe doors the frozen condensation is gone.

Oh, also I should I remove the reflectix at times to check for condensation?

Juat back from round two, I decided to do under the dinnete also.

Just have under the kitchen sink and bathrooms cabinets to do. When it's warmer I am going to use the remainder in the water bays.

I thought about doing that also, but thought it might reflect heat back in to the mattress during hot weather.

Even though I got the coach up to 55f the memory foam mattress was like a brick. I had to kneel and stand on it when doing the overhead cabinets and I could feel the cold from it.

I should get some hot water bottles.
