Remove Onan 5500 Cover

I cannot figure out how to remove the generator cover. Going to change oil first time. Manual clueless. Youtube videos either start with it removed or just lift it up and out. Mine does not lift.

Is there a latch or do I just need to beat on it?

On mine you just grab the top of the cover and pull out towards you - then lift up slightly.

Thanks. I put more leverage on it and got it.

Hope it stays looser now.

Just a note on this: That cover forms an important part of the cooling system for your generator. Do not run it for very long with the cover removed.

And watch out for nuckle scrapes when pulling on that cover! Tight quarters.
