Renegade Door Issues

Opened the door to our 2018 Verona LE coach today and left it open for a while with the screen door closed. We wanted to get some fresh air in. A gust of wind came up and broke the strut that holds the door open. After inspecting the damage it seems like a cheap idea for a door opener. The plastic piece that snaps over the ball just broke. Has anyone else had this problem? I miss the door latch we had on our 5th. On this coach there is just the strut that assists opening the door and holding it open. I am looking for ideas in case the wind would grab it again. I'm going to order 2 of them when I get home just to have a spare. Any ideas would be appreciated.

our main door has a latch on the exterior side that slips into a slot mounted on the side of the RV. this is similar to a screen door latch except ours keeps the door open.

Our 5th wheel had that type of door holder as well. Our Renegade does not have that. I'm not sure that our door swings open far enough to purt one on.

all it would take is a longer latch

We have a slide out next to the door, so it would have to be 36" latch. I was thinking more along the lines of something that is mounted on storm doors to keep them from being blown open.
