Repair or Salvage?
Hi everyone I have a 2005 Fourwinds Hurricane and both front windshields have popped our of the molding had cracked. I am trying to decide whether to repair the problem or salvage the coach. My research indicates that structural repair will be necessary for a proper repair. New glass is estimated at $2,400.00 dollars. Any advice?

The answer to your question is with you....do you like the RV, are you going to continue to use it, & could you replace it for the cost of repair?
No one can tell you how to spend your money...good luck with what ever you decide.

Broken RV, as with others, welcome to the forum.
When it comes to salvage, that normally is an "expensive" proposition. If running, some RV graveyards might take it for free and then part it out. If you want to use the RV a lot, what has been it's history? If structural repairs are needed to fix, what else is wrong? And a 20 year old RV has a lot of other issues lurking around the next camp ground...been there, done that. We loved our 03 hard for 3 years, 40K miles and many trips. As the needed maintenance continued to build, we traded it in and now love our new 22. Wish you the best on your decision, keep us informed.

Sell it to a salvage yard for parting our. One such business has offered me $1,500.00 for it. Not much the generator is probably worth more than that. Guess I could part it out myself but not sure I want to go through all that disassembly and have junked RV in my yard. Decisions, decisions.

Was hoping someone else may have experienced this so I could get advice on how big / expensive a project may be. Research is always a good way to make good decisions.

Do you have an idea of the cost to properly repair?

Nobody else's experience will be much good for you, unless they recently had the work done by the same guy you're planning to use. Just too unusual of a job and not enough experience out there. By all means, if somebody knows a shop or a guy to handle it, pass along the info. But I'd be assuming you'll have to do this yourself, or at least remove the interior to prepare, maybe even design, or fabricate the reinforcement and have someone come in to weld it. Or design it to be bolted in place after welding. Or use wood/composite so it doesn't need welding.
If you're going to sell it, put it on facebook before taking the salvage price. There's always somebody looking for a project.

Yes sir I understand your problem...at my age of life if I had a large expense to repair my RV, I would sell it to a RV junk dealer...

Realistically, a MH with broken windshield and frame that is 20 years old is worth nothing. Advertise on FB Marketplace, someone may want it. You may get $500 for it.
I am amazed at some of the MH's and trailers that are for sale on FB that are absolute junk, but they don't seem to stay available for long.

I would not part it out because like you said, you'd end up with a shell of an RV sitting in your yard. Not sure what it would cost to get it hauled away but it might be more than what you made selling the parts.
Or,, if it runs at all, you could enter it into an RV demolition derby after the part out. Wonder what first prize is?
So besides the windshield frame and glass,, what other major problems are there? You don't spell out much in your opening post.

I would take the $1,500. As others have said, parting it out yourself is a pain and any money you make would most likely be offset by the fee you would have to pay to scrap it at the end.
