Replace xantrex

I have been considering replacing my xantrex freedom 458. It works good and charges well, I would like to upgrade to a pure sine inverter. My question is what is the plug and play replacement. One thing is the phone cord feeding the front control panel as well as the front panel itself.
I'm sure someone has been down this road.

I have the Xantrex Freedom SW3012. I’ve been very happy with it but don’t know if it’s a direct replacement for the 458.

Call Xantrex. 574-214-8752, 574-294-5858, or 800-446-6180. The two 574 numbers are in Elkhart. The 800 May be in the state of Wash. Elkhart address: 541 Raske Drive, Suite A, Elkhart, IN 46516

i replaced my zantrex/freedom interface 20d with a magnum ms2812. it's basically a direct drop in - virtually same size (but with slightly different retaining screws), using the same data cable.

don't know your coach make/model, and whether freedom interface 20d and your freedom 458 are the same or very similar.

I replaced my 485 with the Freedom SW 3012. It fits in the same bolt pattern. IIRC the 3012 is taller but, not an issue for my installation

The remote panel had to be replaced with a Xanbus System Control Panel (SCP).

The old cable is not compatible with the 3012/SCP but, Xanbus makes a little plastic part that can be put on both ends (IIRC) of the old cable to alter the pin out, then the old cable will work with the 3012 and the SCP.

I do not recall if the part came with the 3012, SCP or if I had to purchase them separate.

A new battery temperature sensor and cable had to be installed.

4 years age we installed the Samsung 197 and also installed the Magnum 2812 with a new controller. The Xantrex Freedom 458 uses a 6 wire phone line and the Magnum uses 4 wires, so they just dropped 2 wires added new ends and saved some $$$$. My inverter has been on for 4 years now. Best prices around.

i should have added - i plugged the old data cable to magnum remote directly, no adapter required. the magnum inverter has been working for about 2 years by now, 24/7, no problems.

FWIW: I was at a friends a few days ago who just had his Xantrex catch fire and literally came within seconds of losing everything, including the house it was parked next to. There is lots of bay damage with melted and charred material everywhere. This is now the second Xantrex I have seen catch ' this beingnby far the worst. But equally to blame is Tiffen for mounting it on a storage bay ceiling with flammable insulation that dripped onto the cargo below once flame came out the vent holes. This literally was seconds from completely changing someone's life. Those with inverters mounted like this need to pay attention to what surrounds it and what's underneath and should think about installing a metal screen below devices mounted like this, if not a small Halon can

When I upgraded my TVs to LED and replaced the Dometic refrigerator with a residential model I replaced my Xantrex 458 2500 watt unit with the SW3012 3000 watt PSW unit. Easy job all cables but the remote are the same. I actually ran a new cable for the remote - it took about an hour to fish the remote cable. I was fortunate in that my SW3012 was a refurbished unit with warranty and approximately half the price. I did this replacement three winters ago while we were in Arizona. Make sure you read and understand how to mount the SW3012. By the way I then sold the Xantrex 458 and its remote on Ebay which just about paid for the SW3012 and its remote.
