Replaceing a Door Shock absorber

I've called it a door shock absorber for lack of a better word. peice that prevents the door from slaming open. Anyway, a gust of wind grabbed the door and over extended the rod pulling it apart so now the thing needs to be replaced. How do you do that?
Do the ends just pop off/ pry off the knuckles?

Yes the do just pop off, mine you have to remove the plastic end cap then just bump off.

Thanks Wiz. Just what I needed to know, that and what it was really called.
It's called a Damper. I knew that, but do you think I could think of that when I wrote my original post? lol.
