Question Replacing Sirius Satellite Antenna

I plan to replace my Kenwood Sirius radio with a Sirius Stratus 6 in my RV. I use the Stratus 6 at home and in my car. The Stratus 6 is not compatible with the Kenwood antenna installed in my RV.

I know that I could buy an antenna with a cable long enough to snake through existing covers and could than mount on the roof. I was just wondering if anyone had used a different/shorter antenna that maybe clips or suction mounts on the dash or front window.

Thanks

Hi Bobg43,
I've installed quite a few XM/Sirius radios in coaches. I have never had good luck with the antenna anywhere inside the coach. I've never tried a side mount. Based on my experience, I will only help do this if they are agreeable to the roof mounted antenna. 100% of the roof mounted antennas work from day one, without any trouble.

Thanks for your response. I will probably go with the roof mount antenna. BTW, can you recommend a make/model for the antenna. I have a Stratus 6.

I realize this is a late response but I have a Sirius Stratus 5 that I also use between my home and car. Since the roof of my MH is fiberglass there is nothing to block the signal from reaching inside. I mounted the antenna inside a cabinet above the dashboard (close to the roof) and have never had a problem with reception.

The roof satellite antenna on my Sony went bad somehow and I replaced it with a standard model that I just stuck to the windshield side pillar. Works fine.
