Residential Fridge Ice Makers

Mine has been out for a while but being cheap I decided to do it myself. First search turned up the main unit at $185 “ motor was open” Infrared sensor “ $285. “was bad as well. Found them for $45 and $20. New. Anyone want details give me a shout

Please post info...same Whirlpool they used for several years. Just a matter of time for the rest of us.

Just thought of something else. If troubleshooting look at the short wiring harness in back of the main unit. It has a fusible link built into it. No heater and it will not dump. Easy to replace and fairly cheap. But if open check the element in the bottom of the tray. Probably shorted. They are also replaceable but a whole new unit is $45 . The wiring harnesses is not part of the new unit. Need to buy separately.
