Roof Topper (fold back onto roof)

I have to gain access to a seam running the length of a 14 ft slide. There is a water leak & I want to caulk the seam. I have an A&E slide topper and request tips on how to: release tension, detach, and fold back over the roof so that I can work on the seam. Any helpful tips and/or procedures would be appreciated.

Heres a link to a video as to how to install one, reverse and you should be set. The best thing appears to be to take it off with the slideout in and then reinstall.

You will have to take the screws that hold the metal cover in place at the MH, drill out the rivet, remove the screws that hold the rod arms into their sleeves and then slide the topper out the end. Look at the video and you will see.

It would appear that you could also just remove the brackets that are on the slide. I would be careful not to strip the holes and to use a good sealer when reinstalling.

Ron, be sure to pin the roller tube ends to the axle to prevent the springs from turning. At the end of each end cap on the tube is a slot or hole that when algined with the hole in the axle a pin, cotter pin or finishing nail can be pushed through.
I suggest you extend the room all the way out. Unroll the fabric a little more to pin it and then remove bracket from awning end cap or hex-rod from wall bracket. Make your repairs and then reattach the topper to mounting brackets. Remove pins and you are done.
