RV Armor

I need my roof replaced and was wondering if anyone here has had an rv armor roof for more than a year and if you have had any problems. Thanks.

The guy next door has a 36' Mobile Suite with a rubber roof that had something like that installed. He had some bad spots around the front AC where they had to remove it replace plywood then seal. I think they applied a green coat then 2 or 3 coats of the white, looks good, $5K His was a mess to start with. Took the guy 5 days to do the repairs.

Following as I need a new roof as well. Local shops (central VA) estimate 4 -6K for a new roof using TPO vs rubber. Depends a lot on how bad the luan/plywood underlay is. Most of the cost is labor. Costs seem high for those rv roofing companies that basically pour on a liquid coating.

RV Armor

My 5th wheel is 8 years old and the roof was getting thin. Over the years I have spent a couple of 1000 dollars or more just keeping the rubber roof in good shape. Wondering what to do I meet up with Hal at RV Armor in Pomona, CA at an RV show. We talked and I told him we were from Florida, up the state from the company's home base. We discussed the roof and what they did to keep from ever needing to do anything again on the roof. We were sold. A few months later the installer did his job. I had him take off an old satellite receiver and remove the skylight over the den.

It has been several months since the install and we are pleased with the results. Just went through days of heavy rain and all is well. It make the RV look newer. We have enjoyed working the the company. They are ready to answer any questions about your project and there is no pressure selling of any kind. There are other choices out there, but I would recommend RV Armor over the rest. the Rhino coating will add over 200 lbs on your vehicle. RV Armor under 100. Go with the best. You will not regret it!

We had our roof redone by a dealer of RVRoof.com. Pretty expensive but it is guaranteed for the life of the vehicle even if it is sold. Very satisfied with the roof. It is a material like rhino liner for pick-up truck bed, but more flexible.
We had a hail storm with baseball size hail and had no damage to roof, took out all the skylights. It is guaranteed by the company not the person doing the work. There are several dealers in the southern US.

Update

RV Armor guarantees their work no matter who owns the RV. Another plus I learned from some insurance companies is if your roof is damaged by a tree branch the insurance company is willing to have RV Armor do the repairs because its guaranteed for life. Even if you don't have RV Armor already on the roof. We like what they offer. They have trained technicians located all over the country. So you can have it done at your home or wherever you happen to be traveling. The owners are full timers as well. And yes, their motor home has RV Armor on the roof. Give them a call.

RV Armor Install

Had RV Armor roof system installed two weeks ago. Very happy with the installers and their work ethic. We had two roof units done. A 2009 Pastime truck camper and a 2014 Outdoors RV Wind River. Both units are covered under the life time warranty which will transfer if we ever sell either unit. We live in western Washington and the rain here is never ending. Looking forward to no rv roof problems for many years to come. Paid about $125 per foot w/special pricing sale. Prices jumping to $140 per foot as of January 2018 we were told.

Are you still happy with the roof? I have an older rv and I'm on a fixed income. The armor roof sounds too good to be true.

Completely Happy with RV Armor

We are completely happy with the RV Armor product and service. The technicians were great and very informative if you asked a question. Took them three days to do both our truck camper and TT. Our winter here in Washington have had never ending rain for seems like weeks. It is so comforting to know that our rv roofs are well protected and we will never worry about leaks again.

I was at the Western Washington RV show last weekend. One of the salesmen was bragging about their products RV roof with a warranty of 12 years. I don't believe any RV roof except a Class A fiberglass unit will hold up 12 years. And what you have to deal with after your roof leaks is even worse when the wood and insulation gets all wet and has to be dried out or replaced. No, for us RV Armor was worth the investment.

Yes. I thought we had a small problem with the roof but it was a false alarm. Talked with RV Armory about it and within a few a tech was on the roof. He said I had nothing to be concerned about. But to settle my earlier concern he recoated that section of the roof. Great company to do business with. Customer service for me is over the top. Give them a call. RV Armor the right roofing people.

The EPDM membrane roof material is available in several different thicknesses... If you've ever been to vegas and been in one of the towers looking over the casino you'll see a welded membrane roof made from EPDM material that is often YEARS OLD... you'll also notice raised wood walkways where the technicians walk to the HVAC units and other stuff on the roof...

That is the same material on the roof of an RV except our roof is about .030" thick and the roof on the casino is .060", twice as thick...

I was in vegas for a trade show and they were adding a section to a new addition and I stopped and asked.... and took both a sample 6" round and snapped a picture of the glue....

If you shop on line you can find this heavier material... and several U-Tube videos on how to do it.... I helped a friend do his... 8 ft wide x 42 ft long...

He ordered a 9ft wide piece for the wrap around.... and an extra 18" long.. and of course the .060" material... once the lock down strip in the side of the coach was off... BTW he had access to some scaffolding... we were able to peal back the old roof by stretching it apart from the adhesive... we followed the instructions and repaired several spots where the FACTORY didn't do a great job where the vents, AC's and plumbing went through the roof and following the instructions installed the new material....

I also discovered that the roofs in vegas are never cleaned other than the rain water that wash them off when it rains, and the installer had no clue why we wash, and add a product to the roof of an RV...

Just my thoughts here...

I did not want to spend the money, but after an entire summer of multiple leaks, and having to run a dehumidifier and air filter, I am going to get this done. As stated above, the peace of mind is worth it. Camping is supposed to be fun not another source of anxiety. I will stop back to let you know how it goes. It is good and encouraging to hear of the experiences of other. Thank you to all participants.
