RV Insurance question

What company gave you those seemingly great rates, Stenosis ?? I've had State Farm for many years and I do check rates at every renewal time. They always seem to have the best around.

This was from Geico. I got a quote from Good Sam, which someone in this thread recommended, and it was over $2,000 per year (with lower coverage amounts)!! I have tried to think of what might explain the huge difference, but I'm not sure.

The best explanation I can come up with is that Geico asked how often we planned to drive, and Good Sam didn't. So maybe Good Sam rates are assuming full time living in the RV?

I've had State Farm on all my vehicles, homes, boat, umbrella liability for years. I recently met with my new agent (we've moved) to go over my insurance. The motorhome policy is basically an auto policy with few unique features for an RV. The State Farm agent admitted that.

I did some research and am switching to National General for the coach. The policy gives me all the coverage I had with State Farm with a lower deductible, plus full glass (windshield) coverage, better coverage for contents and stuff attached to the coach, more coverage for cases where we can't use the coach (accident, fire), and the ability to lower the premium when the coach is in storage. Plus they offer a declining deductible for each claim free year down to $0 deductible. The premium was about $300 less per year than State Farm.

State Farm has always been good to us but I thought I would give these folks a try.

I believe it's the vacation liability that is unique to RVing.

I am also bombarded with "ask for a quote and get a gift" from Good Sam. So ever now and again I respond by sending a copy of my coverage with prices blacked out and ask for them to make a quote compared to my current coverage. They can never come close. I do make my requests for a quote when I am in need of small gifts to send out. Some people wonder where I get all those screwdrivers, I am happy with my coverage and it is bundled into all my insurance, auto, house, liability. I have had an awning replaced along with a broken windshield. Limited my my deductible of $250.
