Sanicon Turbo 600 Question
Getting ready to place an order for this system and I know there is a grey water bypass but wonder about the black tank. I like to flush my black tank every 4 or 5 drains and wonder if the pump for the Sanicon will have to run when I flush the black tank.

I have the Sanicon and both gray or black water can run thru it.
It's a centrifugal pump so liquids can run thru them.
I'm not sure I would flush any paper or solids thru it, if its not running. They can block up the impeller blades and prevent it from spinning up after it drys.

The liquid can bypass the pump, solids and paper clumps will not go through unless the pump is running. I replaced my old Sanicon a couple years ago and very seldom use the new turbo one.

Thanks for the replies and if I would have thought a bit more about it, would have realized the pump doesn't care where the liquid is coming from.
Mr D, what do you mean you replaced your old Sanicon and now hardly use the 600? Do you not like the 600? Recommend something different?

Simple answer is yes. Even though it has a bypass, it's not really designed to handle the flow of flushing a tank. We have macerator toilets and we rarely use the SaniCon anymore, unless I'm flushing the tanks. I can just open my black tank valve and my black tank will drain through the bypass fairly quickly, but again, not at the volume of flushing, unless you don't mind waiting a few minutes.

Don, can you elaborate about your “ bypass” setup? Our coach has a sanicon system, the black and gray is teed into the intake of the sanicon. It works fine, just slow and a little noisy. Ive not tried to empty without running the system, does that work? Just slower?

The older SaniCon, first generation, had a small 1/2" hose that bypassed the grinder and worked okay for draining the grey tank. The newer Turbo model has an internal bypass. The reason I can use the bypass on mine, is that I have the newer model (Turbo) and both of my toilets are macerators. My black tank contents are liquified and will drain via the bypass.
