Scangauge Diesel Displays on 2005 Cummins/Allison

Others have reported that this is a great product, but I am curious to know what specific displays are available before purchasing. We have 2005 Cummins ISL400 with an Allison M3000. Does anyone have one installed on this combination, and if so, can you tell me what it displays?

I have a Scan gauge D. It will monitor any system that has sensors. The complete list of functions can be found at their web site

https://www.scangauge.com/

I love mine. You can program whatever features you need, and changing those features is a snap.

PPL in Houston usually has the best price on it. Mine was $119

Thanks for the pointer to PPL! I Hadn't checked them yet. However, I find they're more than Amazon today (and I'd probably have to pay shipping from PPL).

Also...

For the Basic Gauges, the manual downloaded from their website says, "The information available will vary from vehicle to vehicle. If the information is not available for a certain gauge, no data will be shown for it." For the "X-GAUGEs," you need to install the unit, collect data, and send it to them to get the available data that can be displayed.

You can find the manual here:

https://www.scangauge.com/support/us...ownload_tabs|1

Hence my question. To expand on it a bit:

For those with a Scangauge and an 400ISL/Allison 3000M, p. 27 lists all the basic gauges. Do you get them all? It also lists all the X-GAUGEs. Do you have any configured? I am particularly interested in TFT (transmission fluid temperature).

I think I have the same motor/trans as you plus ScanGauge D and yes I get all the standard gauges listed in the manual (including transmission fluid temp). I don't see where the manual list any of the x-gauges. All of the specific gauges and trip computers listed in the manual were already programmed into the unit when I plugged it in. None of the extra x-gauges are shown in the manual. I emailed the specific data for my rig and got back a list of about 20 more new x-gauges I could program in. Most of those were pretty obscure so I only programmed a few:
Transmission actual gear
Engine brake range
Fan speed %
Fuel temp

Thanks a million! I'll order one today.

It's the low-cost alternative to replacing the useless Freightliner display with something I can read. I plan to remove the latter and install the Scangauge there.

The link I posted above to the manual shows the X-GAUGEs on p, 27 on the right side. Or, maybe the text box about X-GAUGEs is not meant to be a heading above the second part of the table for the standard gauges.

Received, installed, and set up this afternoon. I like the user interface a lot; it's very easy to use. Installation is a snap. I captured the PID data and sent all 30 PIDs plus data to them to get the list of X-Gauges I can configure. That's a lot of data to try to keep straight and transcribe (a quadword hex value for each PID)!

I Just purchased a 2007 Allegro bus 40QSP about two weeks ago.
I took my Scangauge from my 2000 Eagle and just plugged it into the Tiffin -- all good to go.

talk soon --- Dale

But the xgauges may be different depending on the iteration of your engine ecm, etc...

When I got one for my ford diesel and sent the data to them, they sent back SO many xguages, I had to cull it down to what I understood and wanted

Haven't done it for the Monaco cummins yet...

I haven't been motivated to set up any X-Gauges just yet. The base set is really useful.

I found that just having readable real-time data on fuel consumption let me improve mileage by an entire MPG on one relatively short trip, about 240 miles. But the numbers on the GPH meter can just be scary...no *wonder* people need to keep on top of fuel filtration. When climbing a steep hill the instantaneous fuel burn is astonishing. All I can say is I'm glad we don't need a gauge to read in gallons per minute (grin). The GPH numbers will do fine, thanks. I was surprised to see that the engine at idle uses more fuel than the genset uses under full load.

I love instrumentation. This thing will save me more than it cost, this year.

I would like those, but I don’t think they were in the list of xGauges I got back from ScanGauge

My head might explode (or run off the road) if I had to decipher all that data.

You can pick any combination of four from the list of standard displays and XGauges to be shown at any given time. So far, my head's intact, but ya never know...

Just use what you want and ignore the rest

the list you get will probably be different from others because it depends on what your ecm will send and what your coach frame mfg captured...

now the next post could be from someone that still thinks the 60 or so xgauges are not enough
