Sewage smell while driving

I have a 2000 Bounder 36S. I am noticing over the past few years an increasing sewage smell when travelling at low speeds. Once I’m on the highway, it isn’t as noticeable. It happens when going from the campsite to the dump station, after the dump station, and after the MH has sat for days/ weeks with the tanks empty. I’m trying to imagine how this could even happen, given my understanding of the drain system.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Smell can come from Grey tanks as well. Use the ventura vents on your roof.

Could air motion/turbulence pulling from the black tank roof vent.

Do you travel with the roof air vents open? If so could be the roof vent pulling from the toilet like when you flush the toilet with the bathroom air vent open and the fan going.

Make sure that all of your traps have water in them. I recently dumped my tanks and noticed a very foul smell. We hadn't used the washer/ dryer this year and the drain trap had gone dry. It didn't take me very long too run a rinse cycle to get some water in that trap. I am assuming that your toilet has water in it, if it does there should not be any smell coming up through it. I would make sure that my roof vents are closed when driving also as the tank vent may let the smell in that way.

Grey tank air admittance valve or black tank rinse anti-siphon valve under the bathroom sink?

Thank you all! I have made sure there is water in all the drain traps EXCEPT the washer/dryer drain. I have never used the washer and now realize that drain is the likely culprit as I do close the roof vents while driving. I will check that out.

a while back i drove under some low branches that swiped all the vent caps off the roof , while waiting for new caps to install I taped plastic on the vent lines and boy what a smell in the coach. Once I installed them the smell went away.

An open vent is an invitation for nest building so might check that if you have not already, if your down south mud daubers are nasty little nest builders in the smallest of places

I had the same issue. I installed siphon caps, and have not had any smell since. (Of course you do have to keep water in the traps also.)

i have found that if you fill the p traps on all the sinks, and the shower drain, the smell goes away.
fill them all to make sure.when you dump the holding tanks, it siphons the water out of some of the drains.

FWIW, a new air vent under kitchen sink was the solution to my sewer odor problem on my 2014 Voltage a few years back. https://www.amazon.com/Oatey-39012-A...dp/B000KKSP52/

Thanks! Just wondering how you determined a vent was needed?

Literally followed my nose to right under the sink. I'm familiar with DWV plumbing, so I recognized the vent and suspected that the diaphragm wasn't sealing.
