One should also keep in mind that some GFCIs could be defective. I have found that in my case the 110V calrod heater in the Dometic reefer trips the GFI circuit. Measuring the cold resistance between the metal case and any of the conducting wires shows infinity. However measuring voltage between the case and chassis ground shows an increasing voltage as the calrod heats up and causing the ground fault. This was measured having the calrod suspended in mid air and the measuring wires connected Before applying power. A very interesting thread and some heavy regulatory reading.
