Slide out jacks

Does my 2012 Jayco Melbourne need slide out jacks. I full time it and slide outs are often out for a couple of weeks.

No, jacks under slides are a bad idea. Flat tire or jack leaks down on the coach and your slide will be damaged.

Agree with Finance. Those jacks are meant for trailers/vehicles without air suspension. I have an extremely large super slide on my rv and bought some. I wondered why they were so tight to remove after a 2 night stay. Fortunately I realized what was happening before doing damage. They are in the 'must sell someday' pile now.

They are NOT even meant for travel trailer, 5th wheels ...ANY slide out

They are an 'aftermarket' product to play on the RV 'need' gene

RV MFGs do NOT recommend them, do NOT provide them, NOT OEM.......

Slide outs are 'self supporting' when extended.....designed for downward pressures/weight

Upward pressure/tension WILL damage a slideout and can cause 'leaks'

Just because a product is available via 'aftermarket' does NOT mean it is necessary, required, an improvement etc
RV Toilet Paper, Anode Rod for Atwood water heaters are right up there with slideout supports/jacks

NO!

I shall move my surplus jacks from the 'must sell someday' pile to the 'must give to someone unlikeable' pile.

Or I will throw them out!

Much safer to support your slide out with a high quality sky hook!!!

If you are semi or permanently parked with your frame rails on blocks that are stacked on properly poured concrete footings or pad the slide out jacks are fine. Otherwise forget about it.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I would not use slideout jacks. Noticed that you are kinda new on IRV2 and wanted to say hello! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
