Slide topper alignment

The living-room slide topper on our new-to-us 02 Georgetown 325 is completely shot. The vinyl fabric has become embrittled by solar exposure (parked with the slide out facing south for 18 months) and is all peeling off the structural net fabric.

Tmeporarily, I've repaired it with white duct tape (looks better than the camo version I used the first time). I plan to get a new topper, but I'm a bit concerned about alignment. Looking at the present toper, it seems as though it has been winding in with a bias towards the front of the rig - maybe about 1" total "spiralling" - and the two arms on the roller are at different angles.

If I get a DIY replacement, how do I get it to roll up square? I plan to get the installation video from the after-market supplier, so maybe that will explain. I'd be interested in anecdotal evidence of other people's experience.

The "topper end" connected to the MH is in a long "slit". There should be a small screw at the front and rear end of the topper. These must be removed to replace the topper....... By moving them fore or aft when reinstalling, they also adjust the topper and how/where it rolls on to the "spring roller".

The spiral could be because the original topper wasn't started straight (the fabric wasn't straight when the screw that that H. Miller mentions was installed) or your slide isn't coming out perfectly straight.
