changing out and doing a upgrade to a mppt charge controller and adding a color controller
since I am new to solar I was wondering if I can mismatch zamp solar panel
one is a 170w and the other is what I have now.

the zamp solar 170w
open circuit voltage/voc(v) 23.8
max power voltage(vmp) 18.0

the zamp 160w
open circuit voltage/voc(v)22..2
max circuit voltage(vmp) 18.5

amsolar said it can be hook up into my solar array I just want to know if i can before I commit and I was planning to hook up in parallel if possible

When I added panels to my 100w Zamp I chose additional 100w panels from Renergy. They were 1/4 the price of the same wattage Zamp units. I did so because I was worried about changing to higher wattage in combination with the OEM Zamp. But the more I read about it the more I see that maybe that doesn't matter so much.

I know that doesn't answer your question exactly, but from what I read on the internet they don't have to match in wattage.

I changed from a Zamp 30-amp PWM controller to the Victron 100/50 SmartSolar MPPT and I'm very happy with that change. It's great! Love the Bluetooth functions and the App.

amsolar was not concern about the watts they were more concern with vmp I guess they are the expert I just want to confirm with ppl in the forum that has done it before or running it in there solar array today.it too bad the 3 panel I have purchase early from a local rv shop sold out with there 160w panels and plus it is more expensive than amsolar zamp 170w but thanks for responding at lease now I know watts doesn't matter

just doing my research on the Victron mppt with the Bluetooth app and watching video on mppt.it going to better than the pwm that came with the kit can wait to install my new charge controller

it been a while since I have been on and I have been busy upgrading my solar system and did a lot of rving and testing and taken advantage off free power the solar system is doing great for the most part, but I have been noticing a voltage drop off my batterys went looking at my bmv712 and my color monitor went I put a high power load on the system and this is in the morning went I first turn on the coffee maker and my battery are at full charge it drops from 13.6 to 12.5 to 12.0 then my low voltage led starts blinking on my inverter I had upgrade my wire from the c box to the Victron battery charger and still the same.so I did some research and was thinking off added another six volt golf cart battery then I started thinking about weight and where to put the other battery..so I made up my mind and bit the bullet and ended up purchasing 4 100ah battle born lifepo4 battery...so I need your help.i have research to see if I needed a bim for my coach and I only seen a couple off video on it or can I do without it

thanks
tony
